Twickenham Stadium

Gilmours manufactured the aluminium shingle cladding package for the refurbishment of Twickenham Stadium’s East Stand. The project required approximately 10,000kg of 1mm-thick, 3000-series pre-coated aluminium, with the complexity of the façade requiring each shingle variation to be individually modelled and detailed to suit the building.

Manufactured in-house, six coils of aluminium were de-coiled to length, profiled to shape and press-braked to form the interlocking hems. Gilmours also fabricated the starter bars and fixing clips in stainless steel. Careful protected processing was essential throughout manufacture to preserve the pre-coated finish and enable efficient installation on site.
